SUMMIT
YOU MATTER. YOUR STORY MATTERS. YOUR SOUL MATTERS.
Pastors are great at caring for the hearts and souls of others. But they can sometimes forget to care for themselves. According to a recent Barna study:
One-third of pastors have considered quitting in the last year.
60% have significantly doubted their calling.
25% said they have seriously doubted their faith.
1 in 5 pastors (18%) say that they have contemplated self-harm or suicide within the past year.
Only 11% of pastors report having excellent mental and emotional well-being.
Only 19% of pastors say that they have excellent overall quality of life.
19% of pastors say that they have "true friends."
WHAT CAN BE DONE?
Worship Circle Ministries has been building communities of worship leaders, and now pastors, for over a decade with one goal in mind: to show leaders in ministry that they are loved and not alone. Through Small Group communities and timely words from like-minded speakers, Worship Circle has seen story after story of leaders who have been on the verge of burnout, breakdown, or giving up find new hope and a fresh wind for ministry.
We’d like to invite you to the Worship Circle Pastors SUMMIT. This one-day experience is a refreshing time of teaching and community, to offer a glimpse of what caring for your own soul can be. All the details can be found below. Will you start your journey to being loved and not alone?
ABOUT DANNY
“In 2012, after thirty-three years of vocational ministry, I hit a wall. As Brene Brown recounts her own experience of burn out, she says her therapist called it a spiritual awakening. Brene called it a breakdown. The word breakdown certainly describes my experience. It was unexpected, but inevitable. You can’t live life the way I did and not find yourself in the “miry clay.”
It turns out it was both a breakdown and a spiritual awakening. It was the defining moment of my life in Christian ministry. In the darkness of that place, I experienced the love of God in ways I did not know was possible.
After a remarkable experience of inner healing prayer, I became myself a facilitator of inner healing prayer for others. I eventually enrolled in a two-year program and learned the skills of the ancient ministry of spiritual direction. In 2014, I graduated from Sustainable Faith’s School of Spiritual Direction. I now serve on the teaching staff of Sustainable Faith and am involved with teaching the school’s curriculum in cohorts here in the U.S. and in Canada. The majority of my time is now spent training others in spiritual direction, as well as in prayer appointments with those who have hit their own wall, who are living in the questions and not the answers. Together we sit with God and notice His work in their lives. God is always at work. It’s simply a matter of noticing what that work is.
I have been on staff with Vineyard Community Church in Gilbert, Arizona, since 2001. I served as the worship pastor until 2013, as well as one of the teaching pastors. My main focus of ministry is now in the area of spiritual formation. Because of increased ministry opportunities outside of VCC, I am currently half-time at the church.
In 2013, I published a book about my journey, Darkness to Light: One Man’s Journey Toward Wholeness. It is a journey I will always be on, a journey of living into the person I have always been. It’s so much easier to be who you are than who others think you should be.”
